Ravello

Ravello is the balcony of the Amalfi Coast. It is the village with the most beatiful views, thanks to the fact that it rises on the top of a hill at 350mt overlooking the sea.

How long it takes

The visit of Ravello takes at least 4 hours.

How to reach Ravello

You can take the public bus from Amalfi, unless you want to combine the Walk from Amalfi to Ravello, that takes    3-4 hours.
The bus to Ravello is operated by Sita Sud Trasporti and the ride takes about  20 minutes.  Your can download the timetible from www.sitasudtrasporti.it.
The bus stop is in Amalfi  in Piazza Flavio Gioia, just 150mt from our hotel, at the left of the Flavio Gioia statue and just before the Marina Grande beach.
The ticket must be purchased before the ride at the nearby Tobacco shop just opposite the bus stop and costs € 1.20.
In Ravello the bus stops at the Church of Santa Maria al Granillo, just 100 mt away from the village’s main square (Piazza Vescovado).

 

What to see in Ravello

We reccommend to visit:

• The Duomo. It is in Piazza Vescovado. You have to pay an admission ticket to enter. The visit takes at least 20 minutes.
• Villa Rufolo. It is in Piazza Vescovado. The Villa is very well known for its gardens and because it is the location of the Ravello Festival concerts. The admission fee is payable at the entrance. The visit takes at least 20 minutes.
• Villa Cimbrone. It is about a 10 minute walk away from the centre and it is probably the most renowned attraction of the entire Amalfi Coast for the stunning beauty of the views. You have to pay an admission ticket to enter. The visit takes at least 45 minutes.
• Auditorium Oscar Niemeyer. It is about a 5 minute walk away from the centre, in Via della Repubblica. The building is a classic example of contemporary architecture. Public opinion is divided by those who appreciate its originality and those who do not think it is a suitable location for such a building.  Nevertheless,  the views from its forecourt are breathtaking.
•  Free admission to the square. The visit takes at least 10 minutes.

How to come back to Amalfi

We suggest you to come back to Amalfi by bus. The bus stop is the same as the one of arrival as is the bus company and the cost of the ticket. Le fermate sono le stesse dell’andata, the ticket must be purchased before the journey at the newsagent in Piazza Vescovado. Alternatively you can come back to Amalfi on foot, taking in the reverse direction the Walk from Amalfi to Ravello, that takes 2-3 hours.
